Turkish Ministry of Environment and Urbanization has met with 100 students from 3 vocational schools located in Konya for an event on protection of ozone layer

The first intergovernmental relations for reduction of Ozone Depleting Substances (ODS) has begun in 1981. This attemps finalized with the agreement on Vienna Convention on the Protection of the Ozone Layer on March, 1985.

On 16th September 1987, the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer was signed. Our country, Turkey, became a party to the protocol in 19th December 1991. 

Monitoring national and international studies on the Montreal Protocol are carried out in coordination with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) under the coordination of the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization.

On 4th March 2020, an awareness event on ozone layer depletion substances & F-gas and environmental aspects was conducted in cooperation with the Ministry of Education under the coordination of the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization. 100 students and their teachers from Vocational Schools in Konya participated in this informative event. Fundamental information on the ozone layer, F-gases and climate change was given and brief video shows were made for the participants. Ms. Feray YÜMÜN, the head of Clean Air Center of South Central Anatolia, made a presentation on the effects of air pollution on climate change. Mr. Turhan KARAKAYA, the Chairman of the Board of Air Conditioning Refrigeration Education Consultation and Research Association (İSEDA), emphasized the need for qualified technicians in the sector and the importance of their profession by informing and encouraging students about sector related opportunities.
