World Ozone Day, which is celebrated every year, was held this year in the earthquake-hit zones of Malatya and Kahramanmaraş on 18-20 October 2023, in cooperation with the Directorate of Climate Change and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), with the contributions of Kahramanmaraş and Malatya Provincial Directorates of National Education and with the participation of our Provincial Directorates of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change. It was celebrated with sequences of events including painting and planting workshops. A total of 200 students studying at the 5th grade level participated in the events.
Mr. Volkan POLAT, Head of the Greenhouse Gas Emissions Monitoring Department, made the opening speeches on behalf of our the Directorate at the events held in Malatya and Kahramanmaraş provinces. After the opening speeches, students watched with excitement the Ozzy Ozone animation, puppet show and Keloğlan, Hacivat and Karagöz shows prepared to raise awareness about the protection of our environment and the ozone layer.
The events ended after the story and painting workshop and plant planting workshops, which were held to raise awareness on climate change and the protection of the ozone layer.
